Abstract:
The Nile water issue has been amongst the controversial issues for Egyptian policymakers since decades. The latter has; recently, raised tensions among Egypt, The Sudan, and Ethiopia over the construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam on the Blue Nile. The crisis has escalated after Ethiopia started filling the GERD’s reservoir in two phases. It is worth to mention that tensions over the GERD; primarily, between Egypt and Ethiopia are seen from the perspective of Egyptian fears that constructing and filling the GERD will have serious consequences and implications on Egyptian water resources. On the other hand, the The Israeli entity intervention in the GERD crisis is; obviously, seen through concluding deals and agreements that are in favor of The Israeli entity interests. Clearly, the Israeli entity entered the scene to achieve economic and political benefits.
The present paper attempts to highlight the impacts of the GERD on the Egyptian water security, and how it will affect the water resources of Egypt. Additionally, the researcher analyzes the implications of the GERD on Egypt politically, economically, and ecologically. Moreover, the study analyzes the The Israeli entity role on the GERD crisis, and what benefits and gains Israel will achieve from its intervention in the crisis.
Key words: The Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam, Egypt, Water Security, Israel, Benefits.
